Our curtains in single width are 55 in (140 cm) wide. With curtain hooks that create the waves, the curtain will then be at its most 35 in (90 cm) wide when stretched, and at least 14 in (35 cm) when gathered. We recommend letting it cover a width of about 24-28 in (60-70 cm) to get the nicest curtain waves.

Our curtains in double width are 110 in (280 cm) wide. With curtain hooks that create the waves, the curtain is then at its most stretched out to about 79 in (200 cm) wide, and about 28 in (70 cm) when gathered. We recommend letting it cover a width of about 55-63 in (140-160 cm) to get the nicest curtain waves.

Gotain's philosophy is to make it easy to order custom curtains. We always recommend our signature look, which means a generous amount of fabric, billowing waves and a trail on the floor. Therefore, all curtains are also sewn in the same way, regardless if you are hanging them on a rail or rod, in the ceiling or on the wall.

3 reasons to choose Gotain's signature look:

- To get a beautiful and heavy fall with generous waves, the drop is your best friend. A touch on the floor supports the curtain so that it is not exposed to gravity in the same way as a hovering curtain is, which in turn is beneficial for the curtains longevity.

- Most homes have some level of differences in height or uneven floors, a small trail helps trick the eye so that these differences are not visible.

- Measuring for a curtain is not the same as measuring for a worktop or site-built wardrobe. All fabrics are woven, and the fabric can be more or less dense. In natural materials, the weave of the fabric is generally rarer than in synthetic materials where the weave is denser.

The rarer the fabric, the greater the variation you need to take into account in terms of the length. This means that all curtains can differ 0-1% from the ordered length, which is completely normal. Over time, when the fabric is exposed to gravity, temperature and usage, which in turn can affect the length of the curtain. A trail means that this variation does not affect the final look of your curtains.

What length to choose for your curtains? Our philosophy at Gotain is to make it easy, and for us that means a generous amount of fabric, billowing waves and a slight fall on the floor. That's why all our curtains are sewn in the same way, regardless if you are to hang them on a rail or rod.

Are you going to hang your curtains on a ceiling mounte rail? Measure from floor to ceiling and add 0.8 in (2 cm). Are you to hang your curtains on a wall mounted rail? Measure from the top of your rail and add 0.8 in (2 cm). Or are you planning on hanging the curtain on a rod with rings? Measure from below the ring and add 0.8 in (2 cm).

Measure in three different places, as floors are often slightly uneven, and use the longest measurement as your starting point. To achieve a beautiful and full look with generous curtain waves, it is important that the curtains lightly rest on the floor, which is why you add +2 cm to the measurement.

Allowing the curtains to rest on the floor gives the fabric support, preventing the textile from being exposed to gravity in the same way as curtains that are too short. This creates a fuller appearance and helps extend the lifespan of your curtains.

If you want to maintain a light and airy atmosphere, sheer fabrics or lightweight linen curtains are a popular choice. They softly filter daylight while creating a warm and inviting feeling in the room. For more privacy and a richer expression, heavier fabrics such as velvet or bouclé provide more coverage while adding depth and texture to the space.

The Core models has the blackout function woven directly into the fabric and does not have a separate lining. Our other blackout curtains (Linen, Velvet, and Bouclé) have a blackout lining sewn onto the back.
The result is a slimmer construction with a softer, more fluid drape.
