What is the difference between a single width and a double width?

Our curtains in single width are ca. 140cm wide. With curtain hooks that create the waves, the curtain will then be at its most 100cm wide when stretched, and at least 40cm when gathered. We recommend letting it cover a width of about 60-70cm to get the nicest curtain waves. Our curtains in double width are 280cm wide. With curtain hooks that create the waves, the curtain is then at its most stretched out to about 200cm wide, and about 70cm when gathered. We recommend letting it cover a width of about 140-160cm to get the nicest curtain waves. * The above measurements apply to the most common mouting, on a curtain rail, with a double-pleat hook.

Could you combine single width and double width in the same window?

Yes, absolutely! It's very common amongst our customers that the walls on the sides of a window are not completely symmetrical. Often there is a narrower wall section on one side of a window, and more space on the other. Then the most natural curtain solution is to have a double width where there is more space, and a single width where there is less!

How wide can the curtain be at its most?

How wide should my curtains be?

Gotain's philosophy is to always make it easy, which for us means a generous amount of fabric, billowing waves and a small trail against the floor. The curtains are made to measure according to your exact length and come in two fixed widths. If you are indecisive whether you should choose a singel width or a double width (and have enough space for a double width) - more textile is always preferable! To achieve a beautiful and voluminous look with generous curtain waves, the width is key. The curtain should look elegant both when closed and open. Choose between single width (140cm) or double width (280cm); the curtain hooks create flowing waves by gathering the fabric.

Double Width (top): A double-width curtain measures up to 200cm wide (extended) and as little as 70cm (gathered). We recommend covering a width of approximately 140-160cm for the best curtain waves.

Single Width (bottom): A single-width curtain measures up to 100cm wide (extended) and as little as 40cm (gathered). We recommend covering a width of approximately 60-70cm for the best curtain waves.

The above measurements apply to the most common hanging method, using a curtain track with two-finger hooks.
