Question 1

Are sheer curtains a good privacy protection?

Accepted Answer

One of the reasons why sheer curtains are a customer favorite - regardless if you prefer thin linen or voile - is that they are the perfect privacy protection without compromising on sunlight. If have windows on ground floor level, direct sunlight or just enjoy a bit of extra privacy, a sheer curtain can be your match. A common question from our customers is which one of our sheer curtains that is the "most dense" hence gives the most shielding, and our recommendation then would be choosing the thin linen curtain.

Question 2

How do I get nice waves in my sheer curtains?

Accepted Answer

All Gotain curtains are sewn with a pleating band at the top, that has pockets with a predecided distance. These pockets make sure you get even waves every time. Question 3

Which rooms are suitable for sheer curtains?

Accepted Answer

Sheer curtains are a perfect match for both your living room as well as the dining room, well basically all rooms that you want to drape with curtains but not compromise on light admission. Sheer curtains are also perfect for your bedroom where they could well be combined with a heavier curtain (perhaps a blackout curtain?), for a luxorious hotel feeling.

Question 4

How do I create a hotel feeling with Gotains sheer curtains?

Accepted Answer

The hotel look is a customer favorite. Something that charactarizes many hotel rooms are the double layers of curtains, a combination of two fabrics with different qualities that together create that luxorious textile feeling. The curtain closest to the window is often more sheer and lets in plenty of light but gives a certain privacy protection, and the curtain closest to the room is a heavier drape, maybe even with a blackout lining for long mornings sleeping in?

Gotains hotel voile curtain is perfect for the hotel look. It's slightly more sheer than our thin linen curtain, has a smoother texture and lets in plenty of light. The curtain that faces the room is the one that sets the mood, choose a velvet curtain for elegance or a woven linen curtain for a natural feeling. Order your curtain swatches here!

Question 5

What materials are your sheer curtains available in?

Accepted Answer

Our sheer curtains are available in two qualities, a thin linen curtain and a hotel voile curtain. The thin linen curtain is made out of 100% french linen, where the yarn on the linen coils which are used to weave the fabric are thinner in some parts and thicker in some, which gives the linen fabric a lively and organic character. Our hotel voile curtain is made out of 100% polyester voile, specially designed to have a beautiful drape and repell dust. The textile is as sheer as they get and the weave is without variations, as voile is french for "veil".

Question 6

How do I care for my sheer curtains in the best way?

Accepted Answer

To maintain color and quality we recommend vacuuming your curtains every now and then. Use a soft nozzle and let it run along the fabric to remove dust and dirt that otherwise can stick in the fabric. Use a steamer to minimise creasing created over time.

Question 7

Can I wash/iron my sheer curtains?

Accepted Answer

In case of dirt/staining we always recommend spot treatment as a first step. Clean with warm water and a white cloth - gently dab the fabric and finish with steaming - let dry. In case of more substantial staining/dirt we advice dry cleaning. Ensure that you local dry cleaner has the correct competence and tools to manage your staining, to avoid unpleasant surprises such as shrinkage etc. We recommend that you steam your curtains instead of ironing, this is a much more gentle treatment that doesn't strain the fibers of the fabric as much.

Question 8

What is the difference between a thin linen curtain and hotel voile curtain?

Accepted Answer

You are not alone to wonder about the actual difference between our hotel voile curtain and thin linen curtain - let's get things straight! The thin linen curtain is made out of 100% linen, it's soft and flexible and let's plenty of light through. Our hotel voile curtain is specially designed to fit together with a heavier curtain for a so called hotel mounting in two layers - but it's just as stunning as a solo artist! It's made out of a voile that makes it stabile, dust repellent and maybe best of all... It almost (if even at all!) doesn't need steaming!
