Choosing curtains is about more than colour and fabric. One of the most common questions we receive is which fabric is best depending on how much natural light you want to let in, how much privacy you need, and whether the room needs to be completely darkened.
This guide takes you through our fabrics, from our lightest sheer curtains to our fully blackout options.
Start by thinking about the room
IF YOU WANT TO MAXIMISE NATURAL LIGHT
If you love the natural texture of linen
IF YOU WANT TO MAXIMISE NATURAL LIGHT
Choose: Voile
Voile is our lightest curtain fabric. The sheer voile softly filters daylight while providing gentle daytime privacy without making the room feel darker.
Perfect if you want to:
• maximise natural daylight
• choose an sheer curtain
• provide daytime privacy without blocking the light
• create a layered look with a sheer curtain closest to the window
Voile works beautifully in living rooms, kitchens and dining areas. It can be used on its own or paired with a heavier curtain that can be drawn when more privacy or light control is needed.
IF YOU LOVE THE NATURAL TEXTURE OF LINEN
Choose: Sheer Linen
Our Sheer Linen curtains allow plenty of natural light into the room while offering slightly more privacy than Voile. The natural linen softly filters sunlight, creating a warm and relaxed atmosphere.
Perfect if you want to:
• keep your room bright
• soften harsh sunlight
• provide daytime privacy without blocking natural light
Sheer Linen is equally suited to living rooms, bedrooms, kitchens and dining spaces where you want an effortless curtain look with plenty of daylight.
FOR MORE PRIVACY WHILE STILL LETTING IN DAYLIGHT
Woven Linen is denser than our sheer fabrics. It provides greater privacy while still allowing natural light to filter through.
With its distinctive woven texture, subtle sheen and beautifully tailored drape, it is one of our most versatile fabrics and works beautifully throughout the home.
Perfect if you want to:
Woven Linen offers a timeless, natural look that suits both contemporary and classic interiors.
IF YOU WANT TEXTURE AND A FULLER CURTAIN
Bouclé offers the same practical benefits as Woven Linen but with a richer, more textured surface. Its tactile weave creates structured folds and brings warmth and character to a room.
Perfect if you want to:
Choose Bouclé if you'd like your curtains to become a stronger design feature while maintaining a soft and inviting feel.
TEXTURED FABRIC WITH A SOFT DRAPE
The Sakura Collection features jacquard-woven curtains with rich texture and a soft, flowing drape. Available in two expressions - Sakura with its woven pattern and Raw Cotton with a solid colour and natural texture.
Perfect for those who:
The Sakura Collection is ideal for both living rooms and bedrooms, combining texture, pattern and an elegant curtain drape.
IF YOU PREFER A HEAVIER CURTAIN
Velvet is our heaviest curtain fabric and naturally blocks more light than our Woven Linen and Bouclé curtains. Its luxurious pile creates a full drape with deep folds, while the surface subtly changes depending on how the light falls.
Perfect if you want to:
Velvet works particularly well in bedrooms and living rooms where you want a warmer atmosphere.
IF YOU WANT TO BLACK OUT THE ROOM
Our woven linen, bouclé and velvet curtains can be ordered with a blackout lining sewn onto the back of the curtain. This allows you to choose the material and colour you love while still having a curtain that blocks out light when closed. It’s ideal if you want to use the same material across several rooms but need blackout curtains in the bedroom, or if you want to combine a decorative look with blackout functionality.
Blackout lining is a great choice for bedrooms, children’s rooms and guest rooms.

WOVEN LINEN, BOUCLÉ OR VELVET WITH A BLACKOUT LINING
A separate blackout lining is sewn onto the back of the curtain. From inside the room you enjoy the chosen fabric, while the reverse side consists of the blackout lining.
This is the ideal option if your priority is choosing a specific fabric, texture or colour.
CORE COLLECTION
In our Core Collection, the blackout fibres are woven directly into the fabric itself. This means no separate lining is required, and the curtain has the same appearance and colour on both sides.
Core Collection is perfect if you want:
• blackout built directly into the fabric
• the same colour on both sides of the curtain
• a full, elegant drape without a separate lining
