Decorate for fall with textiles
As the days grow shorter and the air turns cooler, our focus shifts indoors - and few things influence the atmosphere at home as much as textiles. In autumn, curtains take on an even greater role; they frame the light, add warmth, and create a soft backdrop that transforms the entire room. Here we share our best tips on how to use curtains and textiles to create an effortless autumn atmosphere.
SHADES OF AUTUMN
In autumn, we love letting the curtains mirror the falling leaves outside. Rich shades like mustard, terracotta, and khaki bring nature indoors and create a warm atmosphere. Mustard yellow is one of our most popular colors - expressive and distinctive, yet perfectly balanced with beige and white, where it enhances the room without taking over.
A NEW LOOK
Changing the atmosphere of a room with the curtains you already have is easier than you might think. By lowering the Roman blind during the day, the light is softly filtered, creating a calm and harmonious feel in the room.
BOUCLÉ
Autumn is the season for bouclé to shine! Its woolly, irregular texture creates a soft drape with beautiful, dynamic folds. The fabric is available both with and without blackout lining and now comes in five new shades - including this season’s addition: mustard.
TEXTILE DETAILS
There are more textile details than curtains that can elevate an interior. Custom-made bedspreads in woven linen or bouclé, along with cushions in different shapes and colors, are all designed to become striking focal points in the room. Let the bedspread reach all the way to the floor and trail a few centimeters, and add about 50 cm to the length of the bed - that way, you can easily tuck in the pillow for our signature style of bed-making.
HEAVY TEXTILES
When the temperature drops outside, heavier textiles truly come into their own. Woven linen, bouclé, or velvet, preferably layered with a lighter curtain, add both depth and warmth to a room. Gotain’s velvet is specially developed to resist dust and to drape with a beautiful weight, making it the perfect choice for any space in need of extra coziness.
PERSONAL TOUCHES
Sheer curtains on a track, hung from wall to wall, are a solution that transition seamlessly from summer into autumn. For a cozy atmosphere, draw the curtains and let them become part of the interior. Try, for instance, hanging a painting on fishing line in front of the curtains for a playful and personal detail.
STEP OUTSIDE THE BOX
Curtains can do so much more than simply frame a window - and autumn is the perfect time to create cozy hideaways. With a wall-mounted valance with waves combined with a length of woven linen, you can create an inviting bed nook. Adjust the color and shape, and it works just as beautifully in a child’s room as in a master bedroom.
LAYERING
Just like in the fashion world, autumn often begins with layering - and the same principle works beautifully for curtains. Combine Roman blinds with café curtains, or with curtain panels, for a look that adds both function and gives the room extra depth and character.
