Quality is incredibly important to us, which is why we sew our Roman blinds with evenly distributed metal rods along their length. This ensures that the blind forms smooth, even folds when raised or lowered.
- Each Roman blind comes with a complete kit for easy installation. The blackout version is equipped with a cassette, providing a more stable and durable mounting system compared to our unlined Roman blinds, designed to support the weight of the fabric. Roman blinds with a cassette are operated with a chrome ball chain.
- Can be mounted on both walls and ceilings.
- As all Roman blinds are handmade, the final width/length may vary by +/- 1-2 cm from the ordered dimensions.
- Please note that the blackout lining on the Roman blind with a scallop hem ends above the wave. The bottom 26 cm of the blind are therefore not blackout.

Material
Our woven linen is of the highest quality, made from 67% linen and 33% viscose for a soft and flowing drape. Due to the natural characteristics of linen, slight variations in shade and texture may occur between fabric rolls.
The blackout lining is OEKO-TEX certified.
Care Instructions
For our blackout Roman blinds, a blackout lining is sewn onto the back of the fabric. There is a wide range of linings available for light blocking, categorized in industry terms from dim-out to black-out. At Gotain, we use black-out lining, which provides the highest level of light blockage.
- To maintain color and quality, we recommend vacuuming your blinds regularly. Use a soft brush attachment and gently run it along the fabric to remove dust and dirt that may otherwise penetrate the material. A steamer can be used to minimize creases that form over time.
- To ensure maximum blackout efficiency, the blackout lining is sewn into the seams of the Roman blind. As these two textiles are made of completely different materials and textures, washing the entire blind could risk damaging the product.
- For stains or dirt, we always recommend spot cleaning. Use warm water and a white cloth—dab gently onto the fabric and finish with a steamer. Allow the fabric to air dry.
Maximize the impact of your window by installing your roman blind 15 cm above the window and covering the full width, including the window trim.
When the roman blind is fully raised, the length is approx. 30 cm.
HOW TO MEASURE LENGTH:
Measure from the top of the window frame down to the windowsill and add +15 cm.
For Blackout Roman Blind with Scalloped Edge: Please note that the blackout lining on the Roman blind with a scallop hem ends above the wave. The bottom 26 cm of the blind are therefore not blackout.
HOW TO MEASURE WIDTH:
Measure the width of your window including the window frame.
For blackout roman blinds: For the best blackout effect, we recommend adding extra width so the blind extends beyond the sides of the window. More overlap helps block incoming light.
NICHE MOUNTING:
If you are installing your Roman blind inside a window recess, it is especially important that the measurements are taken accurately. Measure exactly where the blind will be positioned, as the width may vary at different points within the recess.As all Roman blinds are handmade, the final width/length may vary by +/- 1–2 cm from the ordered measurements. To ensure the blind fits properly, we therefore recommend deducting 2 cm from the total width. Please note that this may result in small gaps at the sides.Measure the length from the top of the recess down to the window sill. If your window opens inward, we recommend mounting the Roman blind to the ceiling or on the wall instead.
How to choose the right width for your roman blind
When measuring for a roman blind, it's good to know that we make them up to a maximum width of 230 cm (90.5 in) . This is because the blind needs to work flawlessly every time you raise or lower it, while also giving a beautiful, even fold across the entire width.
The wider the blind, the heavier it becomes to raise and lower. If you'd prefer an easier, smoother everyday experience, we recommend choosing two smaller roman blinds placed side by side instead.
Do you have a window wider than 230 cm (90.5 in)? Two separate roman blinds side by side is a popular and stylish alternative. This way, you get the same function and finish you're used to from us, no matter how large the window is.
Tip: Measure the total width of your window before deciding, so you can easily work out how the two blinds should be divided for the best result.

For the best result, we recommend mounting your Roman blind approximately 15 cm above the window, or as close to the ceiling as possible. This creates a lighter, more spacious feel, gives the illusion of higher ceilings, and allows more of the window to remain visible when the blind is raised.
Please note that the Roman blind stacks to approximately 30 cm when fully raised. We also recommend leaving at least 7 cm above the window frame to ensure the cord lock mechanism operates correctly.
