How to measure: Blackout Roller Shade

Measure the width:

When ordering a blackout roller shade, enter the total width including the brackets.

Please note that the actual roller shade fabric will be 1.6 in (4 cm) narrower than the ordered width, as the brackets add approximately 0.8 in (2 cm) on each side.

Example: A roller shade ordered at 39.4 in (100 cm) width will have a fabric width of approximately 37.8 in (96 cm).

Installation inside a recess:
If the roller shade is to be installed inside a window recess, we recommend subtracting 0.4 in (1 cm) from the recess width when ordering to ensure that the roller blind fits properly.

Measure the length:

Measure from where you want the roller shade to be installed down to the desired bottom point.

If the roller shade is not intended to end at a windowsill, we recommend adding 3.9-7.9 in (10–20 cm) of extra length, allowing you to lower the shade further below the window when needed.

Roller blind behind a Roman shade:

To install a roller blind behind a Roman shade, the Roman shade needs to be mounted using 2.8 in/7 cm brackets (sold separately) and positioned slightly higher than usual.

A gap of approximately 5.9 in (15 cm) between the top edge of the Roman shade and the top edge of the roller shade bracket is needed to prevent the two shades from interfering with each other.

Measuring together with a Roman shade:

Window with trim:

• Order the roller shade in the same width as the distance from the outer edge of the trim to the outer edge of the trim on the opposite side.
• The Roman shade should be at least 0.8 in (2 cm) wider than the roller shade.

Window without trim:

• Order the roller shade at least 5.5 in (14 cm) wider than the window itself. This allows the fabric to extend approximately 2 in (5 cm) beyond each side of the window.
• The Roman shade should be at least 0.8 in (2 cm) wider than the roller shade.

Good to know:

The roller shade brackets are included and affect the total ordered width. The fabric itself is therefore always slightly narrower than the width you order.
