Free curtain planning
Unlike mass-produced curtains, made in large quantities and standard sizes without knowing where they'll end up, every curtain we create begins with a specific window.
Only once you've placed your order does the work begin in our atelier. Here, every curtain is sewn by hand, made to your measurements, with the knowledge of exactly which home it's destined for.
01 — Made in sweden
All our curtains are made in our own sewing atelier in Skåne, southern Sweden. By keeping production close to home, we have full control over the making process, work closely with our seamstresses and ensure that every curtain meets the standards of quality we believe in.
For us, producing in Sweden is a conscious choice. It allows us to develop our craft, support good working conditions and take responsibility for how our products are made.
2 – The People Behind the Craft
Our atelier brings together people, experiences, and craft traditions from different parts of the world. Many of our seamstresses came to Sweden with years of experience in sewing and tailoring from their home countries. Skills and knowledge that now live on in our atelier, and in curtains hanging in homes around the world.
Today, 25 seamstresses work with us, bringing experience from more than ten different countries. For many, Gotain has also become a pathway into the Swedish workforce, allowing them to continue working in a profession they've already mastered.
03 — The craftsmanship
It's the smallest details that determine how a curtain hangs, how its pleats take shape and how well it stands the test of time. Behind every finished curtain is a process shaped by precision, experience and care, where attention to detail makes all the difference.
From cutting the fabric to the final quality check, every curtain goes through several stages in our atelier.
1. The fabric roll is brought out in the atelier and measured according to your order. It's then carefully cut to match your curtain's measurements and style.
2. Hems and heading tape are measured, marked and pinned into place. This is where the foundation for the curtain's shape and drape is created.
3. With skilled hands, hems, heading tape and finishing details are sewn together. Every stitch is part of the craftsmanship that gives the curtain its final shape.
4. As a final step, the curtain is pressed to create a beautiful finish and an even drape. It's then carefully checked, folded and packed, ready for delivery.
04 - Why choose made-to-measure
Every window is different, and we believe curtains should be too. With made-to-measure curtains, you get a result tailored to your home, while we only produce what's actually needed.
