How to measure for a made-to-measure curtain rod

When measuring the length of your curtain rod, consider two factors: the width of the window and how much space the curtains will take up on either side of the window. A single-width curtain will take up approximately 8 inches (20 cm) when fully gathered, while a double-width curtain will take up around 16 inches (40 cm).

Calculating your rod length:

- Your window width + 16 inches/40 cm (two single-width curtains) = Length of your curtain rod

- Your window width + 32 inches/80 cm (two double-width curtains) = Length of your curtain rod

If your room has more than one window and you want a rod that spans the entire wall of windows, measure the total width from the outer edges of the window frames on the windows farthest apart and add 16/32 inches (40/80 cm).
