How to measure: Custom Curtain Rod
How to measure for a made-to-measure curtain rod
When measuring the length of your curtain rod, consider two factors: the width of the window and how much space the curtains will take up on either side of the window. A single-width curtain will take up approximately 20 cm (8 inches) when fully gathered, while a double-width curtain will take up around 40 cm (16 inches).
Calculating your rod length:
- Your window width + 40 cm/16 inches (two single-width curtains) = Length of your curtain rod
- Your window width + 80 cm/32 inches (two double-width curtains) = Length of your curtain rod
If your room has more than one window and you want a rod that spans the entire wall of windows, measure the total width from the outer edges of the window frames on the windows farthest apart and add 40/80 cm (16/32 inches).
